The addition of these new features is nothing new for the platform: YouTube has implemented AI-generated summaries, which allow condensing long-duration videos into a few seconds.
They have also dedicated efforts to developing tools that enable users to remix videos created by others and add voiceovers to their own footage. Aiming to attract content creators from Instagram and TikTok to their platform.
Among the upcoming features in the next few days (or at most, in the coming weeks), as reported by Engadget, is “Collab,” which allows you to “split the screen” of YouTube Shorts into two or four parts.
This allows two or more content creators to shoot different (yet simultaneous) sections of the same video or insert another short video above their own footage.
Feature for users
This feature could be particularly useful for so-called “reaction” videos to other content already present on the platform.
Furthermore, YouTube is changing the system for remixing existing videos online. The new system will be composed of “blocks”. Allowing content creators to disassemble and reassemble their remixes, modifying the audio and even reusing viral audio from other videos, similar to how it works on TikTok and Instagram.
There will also be a tool for reformatting images, which will transform horizontal videos into vertical shorts, adjusting zoom, layout, and cropping automatically.
For all other users, YouTube is currently testing a new vertical mobile feed exclusively designed for those using the platform on Android and iOS smartphones.
Currently being rolled out and possibly already experienced if you’ve updated YouTube to its latest version, will allow you to preview shorts before opening them.
After opening a content piece, you can scroll vertically to see more similar videos. It’s a really good possibility for Youtubers.
