The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) is reportedly ready to launch its own OTT channel dedicated to the Italian national teams. According to La Repubblica, the FIGC is taking a significant step forward in football broadcasting by planning to create its own television network.
How? By establishing an OTT channel dedicated to all the Italian national teams, capable of competing with existing broadcasters and supported by a more easily accessible application.
The goal is to grow digitally and increase visibility, while also allowing fans to enjoy iconic matches from the history of the four-time world champions, on-demand content, and studio-produced transmissions by the federation.
This project could be launched as early as the 2023/24 season and could represent a turning point in reviving enthusiasm for a movement that is still suffering, in terms of image, from the failure to qualify for the Qatar World Cup this winter. The idea reportedly emerged as a result of the non-renewal of the contract between FIGC and Rai due to discrepancies at the economic level, which could therefore turn into a great opportunity.
