Telefónica is set to relaunch its TV service, Movistar Plus+, on August 1st, offering it as an OTT streamer available to subscribers of other telecom services.

The revamped service will include a variety of new channels, with the linear Movistar Plus+ channel at its core, featuring new fiction, the popular late-night comedy program La Resistencia, music documentaries, and sports content, including coverage of Spain’s LaLiga and UEFA Champions League football, as well as basketball, tennis, and rugby.

New channels in Movistar Plus +

The updated streamer will introduce four new channels: Cine (cinema), Series (TV series), Música (music), and Documentales (documentaries).

Additionally, each month, a pop-up channel will be offered as part of the originals lineup. Existing channels on the platform include Vamos, Ellas Vamos. Also dedicated 24-hour channel for La Resistencia, regional channels, and all channels available on the country’s digital-terrestrial TV platform.

The Cine channel will feature daily premieres and a wide selection of commercial cinema offerings, festival films, and Spanish cinema.

Meanwhile, the Series channel will showcase all Movistar Plus+ original series along with a curated selection of international shows premiering simultaneously with the U.S.

Sport channels

For sports enthusiasts, the platform’s sports offering covers a diverse range of matches. Including those from the NBA, the Endesa League with the ACB Cup, the NFL with the Superbowl, the Six Nations tournament, the German Bundesliga, the Italian Serie A, LaLiga Hypermotion (Second Division), the Spanish Super Cup, Wimbledon, and the Masters 1000. Daily matches from LaLiga and Champions League will also be available.

Movistar Plus+ will continue to offer entertainment and music programming, featuring shows like El Día Después, Ilustres Ignorantes, and That’s my Jam.

For existing miMovistar customers who already have the Movistar Plus+ Essential package, their programming will be automatically updated at the same price of €11, with the option to access other premium packages covering football and TV drama – Fútbol Total, Deportes Total, and Ficción Total.

Other miMovistar customers can subscribe to the service for the same fee of €11 per month. Non-Movistar customers will now have the option to subscribe to Movistar Plus+ as an OTT streamer for a slightly higher monthly fee of €14.
