Google has announced the end of support for the first-generation Chromecast, which was launched in stores back in 2013. The dongle will no longer receive updates or assistance, and with version 1.36.159268 of its software, it has reached the end of its life cycle.
This is a rather long period of time, as the dongle has been widely supported for over ten years. On the support page, it states that “support for Chromecast (1st generation) has ended, which means it will no longer receive software or security updates, and Google no longer provides technical assistance. Users may experience a deterioration in performance.”
Launched at a price of $35 and also available in the Italian market, Chromecast has been one of the most popular devices offered by Google in its lineup.
As it allowed users to turn any TV into a smart TV on which they could install applications and games simply by connecting it to the HDMI port and the micro-USB input for power.
With 512GB and 2GB of storage space, it was a pioneer in the dongle market, along with Amazon’s Fire TV Stick.
In the years following its release, various versions have been launched in the market, and earlier this year, rumors emerged that Google is working on a new Chromecast.
Google develop the best way for Chromecast
Google Chromecast is a media streaming device developed by Google. It is a small dongle that connects to the HDMI port of a television or display and allows users to stream content from various sources, such as streaming services, mobile apps, and websites, directly to their TV.
The Chromecast operates through a Wi-Fi connection and can be controlled using a smartphone, tablet, or computer as a remote control. Users can select and play media on their devices and cast it to the Chromecast, which then displays the content on the connected TV screen.
Chromecast supports a wide range of streaming services, including popular platforms like Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, Hulu, and many others. It also allows users to mirror their device screens onto the TV, making it possible to display photos, presentations, or even play games on a larger screen.
Over the years, Google has released multiple versions of Chromecast, each with improvements and added features. The device has gained popularity for its simplicity, affordability, and versatility, offering an easy way for users to enjoy streaming content on their TVs without the need for a dedicated smart TV.
