Google is now a reference point in the entire tech market and has recently implemented its TV platform.

In the last few hours, Google has announced an important update: the official launch of free live channels on the platform, accessible to all users, currently only in the US.

Google TV integrates a new Live section where users can access free channels from Tubi, Plex, Pluto TV, and Haystack News.

There are over 800 channels, including major news channels such as NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX, accessible to all users without any additional payment.

The content will be personalized based on the user’s preferences, similar to Netflix. Google has not mentioned any plans to bring it to Europe at the moment.

Google’s TV platform was originally introduced in 2010, but was then renamed to Android TV in 2014. However, in 2020, they announced the launch of a new platform with the same name, which represents an evolution of Android TV and integrates Google Assistant’s voice search technology and a new user interface.

As we mentioned at the beginning, it is not only an interface that overlays the Android TV operating system, but also an app for phones that has replaced Google Play Movies.

It’s a dual-purpose project, launched in 2020 with the first Chromecast, and then expanded with the mobile app in 2021. That’s why we talked about Google’s desire to bring together different systems:

• Chromecast, which has evolved from a simple casting device to a full-fledged streaming center.

• Android TV, and smartphones, all with the ambition of creating a center to manage multi-casting from multiple streaming services.
