The prominent Korean consumer electronics company, has achieved a significant milestone in France with its Smart TVs powered by the Tizen global operating system.
The company proudly announced that it has surpassed 5 million Smart TVs using the Tizen OS in the country, solidifying its position as the leading Smart TV operator in France.
According to Samsung, the Tizen OS, which was introduced in 2015, garnered an impressive satisfaction rate of 91% in 2022.
The success of this operating system is attributed to several factors, including its robust content offerings, featuring high-quality 4K content, HDR10+, and Dolby Atmos support.
Samsung has consistently expanded its content ecosystem by integrating prominent platforms such as Canal+ (2016), Molotov (2017), and Apple TV (2019). The company continues to innovate by introducing offerings like Samsung TV Plus, a platform for free TV content, and the Gaming Hub for game streaming.
Samsung: the pioneer
Notably, Samsung was the pioneer in incorporating TV applications exclusively from all four major French telecom operators directly into its televisions.
This streamlined approach allows users to enjoy the convenience of a single remote control and eliminates the need for an additional TV box. As a result, 53% of Tizen Smart TV owners have reported that their Smart TV has effectively replaced their TV box.
In regards to its Smart TV FAST offering, Samsung mentioned that recently, FIFA+ and L’Equipe Live 1 & 2 have joined the lineup on Samsung TV Plus. This service provides access to a diverse range of thematic channels spanning sports, youth, music, and more.
Guillaume Rault, Vice President of Consumer Electronics at Samsung Electronics France, commented on this achievement, emphasizing the company’s commitment to providing consumers with tailored television experiences.
He highlighted how Samsung offers an extensive technological portfolio along with features that simplify users’ daily lives. Furthermore, partnerships are cultivated to enable consumers to indulge in their passions. Rault viewed the milestone of reaching 5 million active Smart TVs as a crucial step, underscoring the growing interest and enthusiasm among users for Samsung’s television offerings.
