Roku and CBC have jointly announced the availability of Canada’s national public broadcaster’s streaming service, CBC Gem, on the Roku platform within the country.
CBC Gem is the hub for Canadian series and a thoughtfully curated assortment from various parts of the world. Additionally, it houses a collection of over 800 documentaries, 500 hours of advertisement-free content designed for kids and tweens, and upwards of 200 Canadian feature films.
The inclusion of CBC Gem now empowers Roku users in Canada to enjoy more than 6,500 hours of both live and on-demand content for free on their Roku streaming player or Roku TV. In a parallel move, Radio-Canada’s streaming service, ICI TOU.TV, has also made its debut on Roku devices in Canada.

Roku users can now indulge in all seasons of previous hit original CBC series: Baroness von Sketch Show (seasons 1-5), Kim’s Convenience (seasons 1-5), Schitt’s Creek (seasons 1-6), and Workin’ Moms (seasons 1-7).
They can also catch up on earlier seasons of ongoing original titles like The Great Canadian Baking Show, Heartland, Murdoch Mysteries, SkyMed, and Sort Of, with fresh seasons slated for release this fall. Furthermore, users will be granted access to new original titles debuting this autumn, including Black Life: Untold Stories, BlackBerry, and Bones of Crows. New episodes of the latest season of the popular show, The Great British Baking Sho, along with all past seasons.
Roku users can also conveniently access content from the FAST channel News Explore. Along with live streams of 14 local newscasts on CBC channels spanning the entire nation.
